We Are All "Other"
January 29, 2017 05:00 AM PST
There was an advertising promotion line from years ago that said, "membership has it's privileges." Sadly that sentiment is alive and well and socially we are trying to figure out what it takes to be a member of the proper club in order to enjoy the privileges. We don't like to admit that a driving force in this culture is about privilege. At the end of the day, making others less than is not a means for personal elevation, it just makes the other less than. We are so much better than that.
Colossians 3:9-11The Fallacy of Freedom
January 22, 2017 05:00 AM PST
What is freedom and are we really free?
Freedom is designed by God to serve everyone. Everyone wins with God's definition of freedom. Perhaps that is what is missing in our current events.
Galatians 5:4-14Leave Me To Myself
January 15, 2017 05:00 AM PST
Simon Peter in Luke 5 asks Jesus to 'leave me to myself.' This is his request after Jesus ordered him and other fishermen to put their boats back into the water and to recast their nets. These men had just finished a hard day of work and had nothing to show for it.
They begrudgingly put their boats back into the water and recast their nets. To their surprise, the nets were filled to bursting and they needed two boats to bring in all that they had caught. This let Simon Peter know that Jesus was real. It was then that decided that he was not worthy to be in the company of the Christ.
We too are like that. We want to be left alone. We have too much to offer with and through our calling and must not be left to ourselves.

We are not crabs in a barrel.
We seek understanding but is that enough?
What happened when the Magi saw Jesus is that they were left in awe. We too have the opportunity to be left in awe when we become aware of that Christ presence within each of us.
Matthew 2:1-12Be It Resolved
January 01, 2017 05:00 AM PST
How many New Year Resolutions have you made over the years?
Why are so many resolutions focused on problems? What is the problem we have with problems? Why do we focus on problems? What is up with that?
Considered that the greatest gift we have been given is the gift of managing our lives - not from a problem context but from the context of what God wants for us. When we express God's desire our lives dramatically change.

Luke 2:10-11Choose The Good
December 18, 2016 05:00 AM PST
From a very early age we have learned the difference between yes and no. We learned that there is tremendous power in taking the position of no. At the same time we have lost our memory of the power of discernment. That is, how do we know when God answers prayer? Why don't we recognize God's hand in everything - despite the fact that we at some level believe that God is in everything.
When we remember how to discern God's presence, we can begin to recognize answered prayers, our fulfillment and also God's expression through us. We have been so gifted.
Thank you God.
Isaiah 7:10-15Are You The One
December 11, 2016 05:00 AM PST
Whatever happened to that youthful exuberance that we all once had? What happened to the constant and continual 'yes' to life and to all that came at us? We have lost site of the power of exuberance. If you were to go to any primary school classroom, you could see it. These young people have excitement about being selected without regard to whether or not their answers are right or wrong. These young people are thrilled and fulfilled just by being in the game. We have forgotten that.
During these times of challenge in more ways than we can imagine, we will need to revisit and reclaim our exuberance. We will need to restore our ability to march boldly toward opposing forces in order to make a difference. And in order to do that, we must first realize that yes, we are the one.
Matthew 1:18-25 and Isaiah 6:8The Spirit Within
December 04, 2016 05:00 AM PST
Often we want assurances that things will be all right. We want to know that we can rest peacefully at night because certain things are taken care of and handled. But how do we find that truth? Where is the answer to that question? We are so addicted to facts that we miss the point of Spirit.
Colossians 1:27 and Romans 8:1-11
Regardless of your faith tradition, we speak to the higher self in each of us. Take what serves you from these messages for inspiration and encouragement. We can all use a bit of that.
